What does shinkilow
mean?
Well, putting together this website has already proved to be a
learning experience for me.
I knew that Shinkilow means mirage in Japanese. Here are the Kanji Characters for that word:

But the Eccentric Genius who created Shinkilow was in the mood
for a play on words,
so we write Shinkilow this way:

from left to right, Kami (God), Oni (Devil), Road,
Hora, we already know more than most people about the group.
Does
Shinkilow offer a product or a service?
I am sometimes contacted and asked if Shinkilow is a
manufacturer of illumination devices. All I can say is, no they are not. Shinkilow
is an art lighting troupe, utilizing original methods and devices.
Developing and modifying common items and original equipment, Shinkilow
performs light shows with a human touch, responding to the music in ways
that computer lighting rigs can't emulate.
Shinkilow does offer a service, that is, if you have a
party, event or reception planned, they will scout out the location and put
together the necessary personnel, equipment, and power sources to transform
it into something absolutely astonishing. They will get there before anyone
else, professionally set up their equipment safely and efficiently, and
after the event, will restore everything to it's original state.
For those lucky enough to be there before the guests
arrive, watching them work is a treat in itself. They are perhaps unique in
having applied professional skills and work habits to a
technically-demanding art form which is a dance in itself.
Who's
idea was all this, and where did it all begin?

They have performed shows throughout Japan, from small galleries that seat a
few dozen, to outdoor festivals where their projections are visible from
miles away.
The field of heaven site at the Fuji Rock Festival has
been lit by Shinkilow for the past three years, and they recently traveled
to Graz, Austria, to feature in 'the cutting edge of Japanese underground'
for the 2003 cultural capital opening festivities.
